Ok, I'm having an issue here ... I know it's my end, I just can't figure it out. Bottom line is that the colors are not displaying correctly. I had messed with the color scheme on messenger before using this skin ... so for instance, I had changed the color scheme to gray and so it shows gray with this skin. I have tried various colors and none of them seem to allow this skin to work like it's supposed to.

My logic tells me to use no color scheme, but my silly self can't seem to find a way to use no color scheme.

What color scheme should I use for it to appear like it does in the pics you have?

If you don't like the skin, you can download it again, version 1.2 released today.
It has a lot of fixes :)
